First Annual
Colby DuBato Memorial Race
In December 2021, the CCKRA community lost our friend, Colby DuBato. Colby was a Nationally competitive racer, who worked his way into competing in the Senior 2 Cycle Division with the #15.
Colby and his parents were dedicated to giving back to CCKRA and the Karting Community. The DuBato's received the 2020 CCKRA "Family of the Year" Award after Colby became our club’s Race Director.
No one knew that Colby was struggling. Unfortunately, he kept this battle to himself. Although we question why, he made the decision to end his life. His passing has left a void in our hearts, and we have been mourning this loss in different ways.
Now, to commemorate Colby’s birthday and to support his family, we will be hosting the First Annual Colby DuBato Memorial Race to spread Mental Health Awareness in our Karting Community. The event will emphasize coping with the pressures of winning and losing for Drivers and resources for Parents.
The 2 Cycle Division Classes will be featured for this race, as these were the classes that Colby raced in.

Driver who makes the most passes in the Main Event

All Classes will complete a 14 lap Main Event, with Lap #15 being a “Parade Lap” in honor of Colby.
We are partnering with Transitions Mental Health Association. For this event, our portion of the 50/50 raffle proceeds will be donated to TMHA to honor Colby and to help others in the community receive resources. Representatives from TMHA will be on site at the race to spread Mental Health Awareness, and to offer valuable resources to our Karting Community.
As a racing community, let’s come together to honor the legacy of our friend, Colby. We hope you can join us in Santa Maria, CA on August 17-18, 2024, for this special event.

As a Club, we have set a goal to reach $15,000 in Sponsorships/Donations to be able to give large cash prizes. So far, we have raised $11,020 (THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH)!
